A meeting of stakeholders called to discuss the fate of Pioneer Easy Bus company operations in the city has flopped. The meeting was called by Parliament’s Local Governments Committee to discuss its planned city bus service.
The Committee Chairperson who is also the Kalungu district woman MP Florence Kintu says the meeting could not take place because the Parliamentary Buganda Caucus to which many members subscribe was also scheduled to elect its leaders today.
The meeting has now been pushed to Tuesday next week, to decide the way forward for the Pioneer Bus Company. The ministers for Kampala, finance and transport together with the leadership of KCCA and managers of the bus company are expected to attend that meeting.
The Parliamentary committee is investigating the planned operations of the Pioneer Bus Company and the nature of its contract with KCCA.
The management of the company has however maintained that it will begin operations on the planned date of 1st March.
