Media owners have threatened to take legal action against government over their pay for the mobilization of Ugandans for the national ID project.
Addressing a news conference this morning, the Chairperson of the Uganda Media Owners Association Azim Tharawi said since March this year they have engaged the Internal Affairs ministry Permanent Secretary and the Directorate of citizenship and Immigration in vain.
Tharawi says the association is demanding for Sh.1.5bn for over 30 media houses.
He adds that the failure to pay the money is threatening the existence of these media house since most are privately owned and profit oriented.
Responding to the threats, the directorate of immigration has said that it is processing the said payment.
