The Go-Forward presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi has made changes in his campaign program, suspending activities in the northern region till next week.
Mbabazi will today continue with his rally in Hoima town as earlier scheduled and head to Kabarole tomorrow instead of Friday as earlier planned.
Kabarole replaces Gulu that is now scheduled for Tuesday while Kasese and Kanungu replace Lira and Arua for Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
The spokesman of the Mbabazi campaign team Mike Mabikke has confirmed the development saying the Electoral Commission has already been notified about the changes that have been prompted by the need to first cover the entire western region before heading to northern Uganda.
Meanwhile, the other candidates too continue traversing various parts of the country with NRM’s Yoweri Museveni expected to wrap up his tour of the West Nile Region with rallies in Arua town.
Forum for Democratic Change Flag bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye heads to the Eastern district of Buyende.
Independent presidential candidate Prof Venansious Barymureeba also resumes campaign rallies today following a week’s suspension. He goes to the districts of Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma.
However, another independent candidate Kyalya Walube has suspended her campaign activities temporarily due to ill health of her opponent Pastor Joseph Mabirizi.
Pastor Mabirizi and Kyalya were yesterday meant to hold their two rallies in the districts of Kibuku and Butaleja but they both did not show up.
Pastor Mabirizi claimed last week that he was attacked by yet unidentified people and taken hostage in a case that the police are still investigating.
