Amama Mbabazi has spoken out on his sacking as Prime Minister.
In a statement issued this afternoon, Mbabazi has thanked president Museveni for giving him the opportunity to serve the country as Prime Minister.
He has also promised to continue serving the country in whatever capacity availed.
Mbabazi has congratulated Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda upon his new appointment as Prime Minister, expressing confidence that he has the capacity to deliver on the job.
Meanwhile former FDC leader Dr. Kiiza Besigye is asking to join the opposition to cause change in the country.
Besigye says all the disgruntled members of the NRM should formally join the struggle for change.
Several legislators have also given their thoughts on the matter. MPs Barnabas Tinkasimire, Gerald Karuhanga and Florence Ibi spoke to KFM on this with some describing it as unfair, while others said it was long over due.
In the same breath, the appointment of Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda as the new Prime Minister has drawn varying reactions from the legislators.
For the Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy, the exit of Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi is a step to affirm the Kyakwanzi resolution of a single NRM presidential candidate.
This is according to the coordinator of the Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda, Crispy Kaheru.
Kaheru says this move is in preparation for the 2016 elections to ensure that President Museveni’s candidacy is not challenged.
