The Inspector General of Police Gen.Kale Kayihura has assured the pilgrims flocking the two martyr’s shrines at Namugongo of maximum security during the celebrations.

While touring the two sites, Kayihura said all police departments including the Canine, Counter terrorism and Field Officers among others have been deployed adequately to avert crime.

Kayihura however advises pilgrims to also follow security guidelines issued by police.

Namirembe Diocese bishop Kityo Luwalira has urged believers to use these martyrs’ day celebrations to rejuvenate their hope.

The message comes as thousands of pilgrims continue to converge at the two martyr’s shrine in Namugongo.

Luwalira says though the martyrs suffered for their faith, Christians in this era should only reflect on their faith to change their lives.

He says Christians should use the celebration to pray for peace and unity in the country.
