Mawogola County Chief has asked Government to allocate some funds to training farmer’s irrigations skills if they are to increase on their yields.
Felix Kabajjo Ssalongo the Mawogola County Chief in Ssembabule district says that a big number of farmers in the country have been affected by long dry spells which caused drying up of crops in several districts.
Kabajjo says that if farmers were equipped with irrigations skills they could have saved some of their food crops which dried up in gardens last season.
He needs government to allocate some funds to irrigation schemes so that there can be continuity of farming even during dry seasons.
He has however asked farmers to adopt simple irrigation techniques such as drip irrigations as they wait for government interventions to address the problem of dry spells.
