Makerere university students will now have meals at their halls of residence after the management reviewed its earlier decision of scrapping meals.
It has however maintained the 10 per cent tuition increment for the next academic year saying this is a council decision.
The decision was reached after a meeting between the University Vice Chancellor, Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi and the guild president Ivan Bwowe.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu says the students should file a formal complaint about the 10%.
Kawesi says the police will remain deployed at the university to ensure security.
While the guild president has welcomed the university decision on the meals but vowed to continue pushing for the reversal of the decision on tuition increment
