Mak vows to continue with blended learning

Makerere University management has vowed to continue with blended teaching and learning despite the full reopening of the economy.
In his statement released this evening, the Vice-chancellor of the University, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe says that the decision to continue with the blended mode of teaching and learning was taken before the full opening of the economy and all arrangements for the first semester were made against this background.
He says that since the country is experiencing a surge in infections by the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and yet not all students and members of staff have been vaccinated, the University will continue with blended learning to protect learners.
He added that management has received reports of plans by some students with the encouragement of external actors to disrupt University activities, on the pretext of demanding for full re-opening of the University.
He advised students to discard their plans as any attempt to disrupt University activities will attract very serious disciplinary action.
