The domestic worker convicted of child torture has been handed a four year jail term.
22 year old Jolly Tumuhirwe appeared before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Lillian Bucyana after she earlier pleaded guilty to assault charges.
Tumuhirwe who also claims to have been tortured by the toddler’s mother Mbabazi Kamanzi is said to have assaulted the child causing her actual bodily harm.
Earlier, the Director of Public Prosecutions dropped charges of torture against the accused and instead settled for assault that attracts a maximum sentence of 5 years.
Tumuhirwe was secretly captured on a CCTV camera torturing a child, whose video since gone viral of social media, drawing fierce condemnation from the general public and child rights activists.
