Lyantonde District Education District authorities have closed down a secondary school for operating without qualified staff and a pit latrine.
Precede Secondary School located at Lyantonde Rural Sub County in Lyantonde district has been closed down in an operation conducted by the district education authorities and the district committee for education.
According to Lyantonde District Education Officer, Medard Byarugaba, the closed school lacked qualified teachers on top of lacking a pit latrine which he says that puts lives of the students at a risk of contracting diseases related to poor sanitation.
Byarugaba says that the school also had only two teachers which he says that compromises the standard of education offered at the school.
He says that they have asked the school director Rev. Stephen Lyomunsi to put up the necessary requirements before the school is opened up.
Rev. Lyomunsi has however, declined to comment on the matter.
