Police in Lyantonde District have arrested a self-styled pastor for sexually abusing girls and women in his Church.
The police led by the officer in charge of Police Family Protection Unit, Beatrice Kabasindi arrested the suspect, aged 35 years after a tip-off Jonan Ssekabira, a resident of Kamengo village in Lyantonde rural sub -county who complained that the man of God had eloped with his wife.
Ssekabira also complained that the wife had left behind four children after she was told by pastor to marry him because her husband (Ssekabira) was a curse and that was the reason why they were suffering from poverty.
Kabasindi said the pastor was arrested from his residential home at Kaliiro ward ‘A’ in Lyantonde where he was found with ten girls, confined his the house. When asked, some of the girls said they were taken to the pastor’s home for counseling, but they were also surprised when he started sexually abusing them at night.
The Southern Regional Police Commander, Maxwell Ogwal said, the pastor will be charged of three counts of raping other people’s wives, defilement and kidnapping children. The children have been taken to Lyantonde Central Police for safe custody.
