The Electoral Commission has gazzeted Shs.450m for the Luwero district woman parliamentary by election.

Addressing a news conference this morning, the acting commission chairperson Tom Buruku said the money is to be used for purchase of polling materials and facilitation of polling officials.

Meanwhile the police spokesperson Fred Enanga says security has been tightened as the campaigns kick off today until the May 20th.

He has also warned candidates against hate speech.

Four candidates including DP’s Brenda Nabukenya, NRM’s Rebecca Nalwanga and two other independent candidates were duly nominated for the race.

The district returning officer Alex Komuhangi says candidates are expected to follow their harmonized programs to avoid clashes.

Komuhangi says no fundraising and voter bribery will be accepted throughout the campaign period.

The Luweero by election is slated for May 22nd.
