Government is to take over total ownership of the National Housing Corporations and Construction Company.
The revelation was made by Dr Chris Baryomunsi the minister of State for Housing in parliament while presenting a statement on the International Habitat Day.
He stated that this will ensure adequate provision of low cost houses to public servants.
The minister also told parliament that government intends to recapitalize the Housing Finance Bank to offer low interest loans to public servants to acquire mortgages with a 30 billion shillings revolving fund.
However, the Leader of Opposition in parliament Winnie Kiiza, criticized government for allegedly designing in executable programs citing the Naguru-Nakawa estate where ordinary people were evicted off their land only to have it shared among wealthy individuals.
