Lord Mayor Lukwago Endorsed for Party President
One of the Democratic Party factions has endorsed Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago as the new party president.
Speaking at a conference attended by over 300 party members, Lukwago said they are frustrated by some members whose aim is to sell out their party to the ruling NRM.
Lukwago says the current DP leadership has been given upto tomorrow to decide on whether or not to extend the delegates conference.
The group has often opposed the delegates conference that is slated for July 23rd.
Lukwago says if the delegates conference is not postponed they will have no option but to announce alternative party leadership.
DP Members of Parliament and other top officials have seconded the move.
