Learners affected by exam marking to be compensated- UNEB

The process of marking examinations has started and the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) says learners from school premises that have been used will be compensated for time lost without additional fees.
UNEB says 20,000 examiners are to be involved in the marking exercise in a process that will take about two weeks for PLE examinations and three for UCE and UACE.
Jennifer Kalule, the UNEB spokesperson says both private and public school heads are required to unconditionally release examiners for the process to be completed within the stipulated time.
Over one million learners need their examination papers marked and UNEB says the unmarked papers cannot be kept for a long period of time due to security reasons.
UNEB has about 40 marking centres in easy to access schools with which they have running contracts.
Marking was normally done during holidays but this was not possible this time because the school calendar was disrupted by the covid-19 pandemic.
