More action is needed to check maternal deaths in Uganda.
The call comes from women legislators, days after Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate the safe motherhood day.
One of the legislators and Workers representatives, Mary Marion Tunde said many pregnant mothers mainly in rural areas are ignorant about the antenatal services which greatly contribute to high maternal mortality rate.
She is now proposing that parliament comes up with a policy compelling every pregnant mother to go for antenatal services arguing that this will help reduce maternal deaths.
According to current statistics twenty women die in Uganda every day in the process of giving birth
