The law firm representing the late Keith Muhakanizi in the case of the disputed Lyantonde land that has become contentious following his death last week, says he acquired the 80 acres of the land after the owners failed to repay a mortgage.
In an interview with KFM, Joseph Matsiko the managing partner Kampala Associated Advocates who has been representing the deceased former Permanent Secretary Office of the Prime Minister, in the matter since 2015 when an illegal special certificate of title was discovered on the disputed land, said the current video circulating on social media, is an attempt to discredit the memory of a man who diligently served this country and lived an honest life.
He explains that a one Godfrey Bwambizo borrowed from the defunct Uganda Commercial Bank and he was not able to service the loan and it became a non-performing asset.
He adds that when the Non-Performing Assets Recovery Trust was put in place this loan was one of the loans that were transferred to NPART.
According to Matsiko, Bwambizo tried to challenge the whole process of acquisition of the property through court but the case was dismissed with costs
