Landlords at Centenary Park are up in arms against an ongoing demolition of some of their structures.
Early this morning, a group of workers from the Uganda National Roads Authority and National Water and Sewerage Corporation stormed the park, which lies in a wetland, and started passing water pipes under the buildings.
Together with some KCCA Councilors, the Managing Director of Nalongo Estates Sarah Kizito Nyakaana, claims they had an agreement with KCCA to find other routes for the water pipes and instead of passing them through their business structures.
Mrs. Nyakaana says they are ready to fight on as they have a presidential directive authorizing their operations at Centenary Park.
The park located on Jinja Road opposite the Electoral Commission Headquarters, is a hub for several restaurants and hangouts.
