Kyambogo University seeks help from the ministry of education

Ndiege in office

Kyambogo University Council wants the ministry of education to take over the management of the institution.

This follows the failure by the council to resolve the standoff between the staff members and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaiah Omolo Ndiege.

Now according to the university spokesperson Lawrence Madete they have written to the ministry seeking its intervention.

The last meeting held on Friday 403 staff members voted against Ndiege’s return, 15 abstained while only nine wanted Ndiege to stay.

Meanwhile,Ā  the police are heavily deployed at Kyambogo University to avert a possible students’ strike.

The guild president John Mugabi tells KFM thatĀ theĀ student leadersĀ are now locked up in a meeting to discuss the way forward after missing lectures for two weeks.

He says the students have given council enough time to resolve the impasse between the staff and the Vice chancellor Isaiah Omolo Ndiege but no positive results have been yielded so far.

The lecturers laid down their tools two weeks ago protesting the return of Ndiege as Vice Chancellor.

They accuse him of among other thing; corruption and mismanagement of the university.
