Parliament’s public accounts committee has committed officials from Kyambogo University to the Criminal Investigation Department of Police to record statements for failure account for over 9 billion shillings.
The had appeared before the committee yesterday to respond to queries raised in the Auditor General’s report for the financial year 2014/15
The quizzed officers include the Acting University Secretary Patrick Madaya, Academic Registrar Rose Bwire and Senior Assistant Bursar William Kisule.
The officials failed to account for over Sh7bn as domestic arrears and more than 2.4billion shillings due to lack of supporting documents
The committee chairperson Angeline Osege noted that the officials had intentions of defrauding the institution and therefore intentionally refused to furnish the Auditor General with relevant information.
