A Kyadondo East Constituency voter has petitioned the High Court in Kampala seeking an order compelling the Electoral Commission to halt the ongoing update of voter’s register.

Muwadda Nkunyingi who has also expressed interest in contesting in a forth coming by-election has sued Electoral Commission, local musician Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi wine and the IGP Gen Kale Kayihura for allegedly mishandling the exercise.

Muwadda alleges that on 24th May 2017 he saw Bobi wine’s agent taking over Electoral Commission’s role under police protection which violated the constitution and electoral laws.

He now wants court to halt the voter register update exercise and an order stopping the Electoral Commission from using the data collected.

He further wants court to issue an order barring police under IGP and Bobi wine from interfering with the Electoral Commission’s role of organizing free and fair elections.
