Moses Kipsiro has blamed the below standard performance of Ugandans at the on-going Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on inefficient management of sports in Uganda.
Speaking to Daily Monitor’s Sande Bashaija in Scotland, the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medalist said he was hurt to see Kenyans dominate the competition.
He however explained that they deserved it because their government invests in sports
Kipsiro finished a distant 8th as Kenya’s Caleb Mwangangi took his 5,000m title on Sunday and a troublesome knee has threatened to ensure he leaves Glasgow empty handed.
He returns to action today in the 10,000 meters final. He is joined by Timothy Torotich and Moses Kibet
Earlier, Olympic champion and world record holder David Rudisha was beaten into second place by arch-rival Nijel Amos of Botswana in the Commonwealth Games 800m final last evening.
Kenyan star Rudisha, who missed most of the 2013 season with a knee injury, was caught over the last 100m by Botswana’s Amos who won in 1min 45.18 micro sec at Hampden Park.
Rudisha claimed silver in 1:45.48 with South Africa’s Andre Olivier taking bronze in 1:46.03.
Uganda’s Ronald Musagala missed out on the medals.
Meanwhile Uganda will not have a representative in the men’s 3000m steeplechase final after Jacob Araptany failed to travel due to injury.
