Former First Lady Lucy Kibaki has died at a hospital in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mrs Kibaki died while being treated at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London.
The statement further states that the wife to former president Mwai Kibaki has been unwell for the last one month and has been receiving treatment in Kenya and subsequently in the United Kingdom.
In his condolence message, President Kenyatta says Lucy will be remembered for her immense contribution to the development of Kenya.
Especially notable was Her Excellency’s virtues of leadership and commitment to improving the wellbeing of the ordinary Kenyans, in particular her focus on tackling HIV/AIDs, which will remain an inspiration to many.
