Kenyan officials have confirmed that the Garissa University siege has ended with death toll now standing at 147.
Gunmen linked to the Somali militant Al-Shabaab attacked the university in north eastern Kenya shooting indiscriminately at student killing 147 while scores others escaped with injuries.
Some 500 students were rescued though hundreds more still remain unaccounted for.
Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has now ordered the immediate and indefinite closure of Garissa University.
Meanwhile Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has condemned the Garissa University attack, calling for reinforcement of the anti- terror war.
A special joint security team has been formed in Mombasa to deal with rising security threats as detectives comb Garissa University for evidence as they clear the 127 bodies of the 147 people killed in yesterday’s terror attack.
