KCCA twice came from behind to salvage a draw against the tax collectors last evening at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
The visitors were on two occasions ahead away from home 1st through Feni Ali in the 1st 15 minutes after the start of the 1st half and Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza in the second half. Isaac Muleme and Geoffrey Sserunkuma cancelled out the leads respectively as the Kasasiro regained top spot in the Uganda Premier League although on goal difference.
It was the tax collectors though who drew first blood through a Feni Ali strike 15 minutes after the start.
Teenage sensation Allan Okello gave URA FC players a run for their money the entire afternoon, came close on a couple of occasions but it was substitute Isaac Muleme the left back that scored a beautiful volley to level matters before halftime, it was Muleme’s first goal for KCCA FC.
In the second half, Tom Masiko was withdrawn for Robert Sentongo in a move to have more numbers upfront but it was URA FC who capitalized quickly through a Diego Hamis Kizza’s strike.
KCCA FC pressed hard and in the 66th minute referee Alex Muhabi pointed to the spot after Julius Ntambi held the ball in the forbidden area.
Geoffrey Serunkuuma made no mistake and slotted home from 12 yards to take his tally to 16 in the league and 22 in the season.
The visitors then withdrew scorer Ali Feni for Richard Wandyaka and Shafic Kagimu for Elukanah Nkugwa in search for a winner but it was all in vain.
The draw means the league holders ascended back to the summit of the 16 team log with 47 points from 22 games and keeps KCCA FC on the road to a 12th league title.
