KCCA moved to within a point of retaining the Azam Uganda Premier League title following a commanding victory over Kirinya Jinja at Lugogo on Saturday.

Derrick Nsibambi scored a brace in addition to further strikes from Sulaimon Akinyemi, Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Noel Nasassira in the 5-1 victory.

Sulaimon Akinyemi beat two defenders before the ball fell into his path again to poke home the opening goal of the game 14 minutes into the game.

33 minutes into the game Kirinya’s Kamya brought down the marauding Rukundo and Geoffrey Sserunkuma scored the resultant penalty to the keeper’s left for his 19th goal of a fruitful campaign.

The visitors however caused a minor scare when referee Mashood Ssali awarded  a penalty in the 56th minute after Captain Dennis Okot fouled Bashir Mutanda in the box, the attacker earning his side a penalty then picked himself to score the spotkick.

The game was however put out of their reach 20 minutes later when a delightful through ball from substitute Ivan Ntege left Nsibambi with only the goalkeeper to beat.

The striker did just enough, lifting the ball over the advancing keeper for a 3-1 scoreline after 78 minutes.

Another substitute Noel Nasassira then added further gloss to the scoreline benefiting from Nsibambi’s unselfishness to slide home the fifth.

Victory consequently moved KCCA to 57 points, five ahead of nearest challengers Villa who also won against Soana.
With three games left, KCCA now require to only avoid defeat against Lweza in the next encounter on Tuesday to retain their crown.
