The National Unity Platform (NUP) Election Management Committee (EMC) on Wednesday released a programme for the upcoming vetting and screening of candidates aspiring for the party ticket in the Kawempe North Member of Parliament by-election.
Ten individuals expressed interest in the NUP party ticket, with nominations concluding on February 4, 2025.
According to the vetting programme, signed by Election Management Committee Chairperson Mercy Walukamba, the exercise will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day.
“The prospective candidates shall be allowed to bring with them a maximum of five (5) delegates. Schedule for Prospective Candidates for Member of Parliament Kawempe North Division,” the statement reads in part.
The same program will also cover prospective candidates for Councillor LC3 of the Kazo Angola Ward.
The seat that fell vacant following the death of Muhammad Ssegirinya, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP) led by musician turned politician, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine.
