The Police have released a tentative funeral program for fallen Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who was gunned down yesterday morning by unknown assailants near his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb together his body guard and driver.

According to the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, the body of the deceased will remain at the city mortuary until tomorrow when it will be taken to St Andrews church Kulambiro and burial will take place on Tuesday.

At the deceased’s home in Kulambiro a special mass has kicked off as confirmed by his elder brother Alphosnse Musoni , while at the city mortuary in Mulago heavy police deployment remains.

Meanwhile more tributes continue to flow in in honor of the late Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

The latest is from the Public Relations Association of Uganda which is mourning the death of one of their own.

In a statement, the association has described Kaweesi as an exemplary communicator who was very instrumental in building and safe guarding the reputation of the Uganda Police Force..

The association has strongly condemned the rampant similar murders that have happened in different parts of the country appealing to government to bring the culprits to book.

The Publicists say Uganda has lost one of its best at a time when he was needed the most.

Earlier, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Uganda, Amb Christian Schmidt, described the late Kaweesi as a professional officer, a kind and calm leader.

In a tweet, Amb Schmidt says they share the pain and send sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of the fallen senior police officer.

In the same way, the US Embassy in Kampala has expressed sadness over the news of Kaweesi’s death and has extended deepest condolences to his family and the Uganda Police Force.

They say there is no justification for violence or murder and hope police will find and bring to justice those responsible for this crime.

While the Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa says Ugandans must be alert and report any suspicious persons to security authorities.

Kaweesi’s death simply adds to the statistics of prominent people so far gunned down by men riding on motorcycles.

You can read more in the Saturday Monitor about what security experts say about why these killers using boda bodas.

The director general of Internal Security Organisation, Col Frank Kaka Bagyenda, says the bodas provide an easy escape from the scene.

Bagyenda adds that they can disguise as commercial boda boda riders on the road after committing the crime.
