The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has assured that emergency works on River Katonga along the Kampala-Masaka highway will be complete in three weeks.
In a short statement posted on Twitter, UNRA revealed that emergency restoration works at the damaged section of the road have commenced, adding that with favorable weather conditions, restoration works shall be complete in the given time period.
“Emergency restoration works at #Katonga along Kampala—Masaka Highway have kicked off! with favourable weather conditions, the anticipated timeline for the completion of these emergency works is 2–3 weeks. We request for your patience during this time,” UNRA said in a tweet.
In the meantime, motorists continue to use the Mpigi-Kanoni-Maddu-Ssembabule road as an alternative.
The leader of Ppposition in Parliament, Mr. Mathias Mpuuga has since warned that the alternative road will get damaged if it’s used for over a month.
