Katikamu SDA Secondary School has this morning been closed following a students’ strike held yesterday.
The school’s Headmaster Joseph Nyangoma says closure became inevitable after students went on strike twice in one week, vandalizing a lot of property.
The students first went on strike on Saturday, demanding that the Deputy Headmaster identified as Ronald Mayanja be withdrawn from the school.
The students accuse the Deputy Headmaster of harassment and excessive arrogance.
The Headmaster is asking parents to pick their children from the school , saying they will be informed later on when the school will be re-opening.
The police has been heavily deployed at the school to avoid more chaos as the school closes.
The closure has mainly affected students in candidate classes who were already sitting their mid-term exams. Katikamu SDA Secondary school has a capacity of 1, 700 students.
