The Court of Appeal has set the 18th of this month to hear a bail application John Kashaka.
Kashaka, a former permanent secretary in the local government ministry was convicted of causing government a financial loss of over 4 billion shillings in a botched bicycle scam.
The presiding judge Catherine Bamugemereire also ordered him to refund the said money and that he could not be employed in any government institution for a period of 10 years.
Kashaka is so far the only one of the 6 ministry officials who has appealed the sentence and applied for bail in the Court of Appeal.
In his bail application, Kashaka says he is of an advanced age of 60 years and the sole bread winner of his extended family.
