The Kampala lord mayor Erias Lukwago in his capacity as the lawyer for the six opposition Members of Parliament in the age limit petition has decided to run to the Supreme Court to contest some of the rulings made by the judges during the age limit ruling last week in Mbale.
In their ruling, the five judges of the constitutional court annulled the extension of the legislator’s tenure from five to seven years but upheld the removal of term and presidential age limits.
Addressing journalists at his offices in Kamokya, Lukwago says whereas they are satisfied with the abolition of the seven year term of MPs, they are opposed to the presidential age limit removal.
Lukwago says that they have now filled a notice of appeal before the registrar based on 11 grounds.
His appeal comes shortly after lawyer Male Mabirizi filed another appeal before the same court based on 80 grounds.
