Kalangala Local government leaders call for water ambulances

David Kugonza | July 9, 2018

By Ssebuliba Samuel.

Local government leaders from island areas have resounded a call for provision of water ambulance to cater for emergency referrals.

Currently kalangala district which is made up of 84 islands has no referral hospital and usually they have to run to nearby district like Masaka in case of referrals.

Speaking to Kfm Willy Lugoloobi the kalangala district chairman said that they were earlier given two boards by government, but these were open boats that couldn’t offer emergency service.

He said that they want boats specifically designed to offer ambulance services yet can move fast to deriver sick people to referral hospitals.
