The four people that stood sureties to writer Kakwenza Rukirabashaija are expected to appear in court today to explain his whereabouts.
They are to appear before Buganda Road court chief magistrate Dr.Douglas Singiza who last month ordered their arrest to appear in court today to give more light on Kakwenza’s whereabouts on allegations that he jumped bail.
This is after they failed to fulfill their obligations as sureties.
The sureties to be arrested include; a practicing advocate Julius Galisonga, Job Keija, Rubongoya David Louis, and a Kololo secondary school teacher Ashaba Anna.
However, the magistrate ruled that if the sureties forfeit the Shs40 million non-cash bond bail monies that they committed themselves to pay if he absconds their warrant of arrest will be counseled and discharged.
Kakwenza is on charges of Offensive communication to the person of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his son Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Kakweza was on December 29th, 2021 arrested from his home in Kisaasi Central – Nakawa division following a tweet he uploaded on his official Twitter handle ” Kakweza Rukira@kakwezarukira” which the prosecution says was meant to disturb the peace of the president and that of his son Muhoozi.
The state contends that the charge of offensive communication offends section 25 of the Computer misuse act.
Kakweza allegedly committed the offenses between the 24th and 28th of December 2021.
