The annual Kakira Open Golf Tournament has teed off at the Jinja Club.
The tournament which is sponsored by Kakira Sugar Works kicks off with 120 golfers including some of big names like Abbey Bagalana, Grace Kasango, Iran Odokonyero, Tolit Brayan and Herman Mutawe are competing.
The event is expected to be climaxed on Sunday.
Two professionals, Deo Akope and Denis Anguyo, who had earlier been expected to add a dash of spice to the tournament have however not turned up due to engagements outside the country.
Meanwhile, the management of Kakira Sugar Works has announced that this year’s sponsorship towards this year’s edition of the tournament has been increased to Shs50million.
The General Manager, Christian Vincke says the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope Gabula IV, is expected to preside over the prize giving ceremony on Sunday.
