The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has been confirmed as the chief runner at the 2nd Annual Rotary Cancer Run slated for 25th August at Kololo Independence grounds.
The Cancer run is an initiative by Rotarians to raise funds for the construction of the second phase of the Cancer Ward at Nsambya hospital estimated at 1.1 billion.
According to the chairman, Uganda Rotary Cancer Programme Steven Mwanje, about 600 million has been raised and it is hoped that the run will be able to raise enough funds to complete the ward.
Other prominent personalities expected to grace the marathon are the Uganda Cranes, led by coach Micho Sredojevich, Central Bank Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile and golfers Flavia Namakula and Deo Akope.
