The Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has urged the government to consider agriculture as a strong pillar for the country’s development.
He made the remarks on Monday morning while opening the 31st Buganda Parliament at Bulange-Mengo.
The Kabaka demands that government makes agriculture a compulsory subject up at secondary level in order to equip learners with the necessary knowledge about farming.
He also urged farmers to continue engaging in agriculture despite the current price fluctuations in the market.
Meanwhile, the Kabaka is concerned about the continued land grabbing that has greatly affected the poor citizens, leaving majority dead while others injured and homeless, urging the judiciary to quicken the process of proving justice to land grabbing victims.
