Former Principal Judge Justice James Ogola has today appeared before Parliament for vetting as the new chairperson of the judicial service commission.
Speaking to journalists shortly after vetting, Justice Ogola said that if his appointment is approved, his priority will be on filling the vacant positions in the judiciary to ensure improved service delivery.
Justice Ogoola is to be deputized by Supreme Court lady justice Esther Mayambala Kisakye, who has been retained on the commission.
The other commissioners are Justice Bart Katureebe, Henry Kisaja Kyemba, Prof. Fredrick Ssembepwa, Laban Kirya, Grace Oburu and Charles Okoth Owor.
Justice Ogoola replaces Justice Seth Mayindo whose contract expired.
The delayed appointment of the commission for over a year has affected the operations of the judiciary, with a huge backlog of discipline cases.
