The Judiciary says they are set and have prepared enough to receive any petitions from the just concluded presidential and parliamentary elections.

Addressing journalists at the media center, the Judiciary spokesperson Jameson Karemani said they are fully facilitated to handle petitions.

“As the judiciary, finance wise, we are ready, there will be no case of failing to handle a petition because of money, we have budgeted for petitions, rest assured we shall handle all of them in case they arise,” said Mr Karemani.

He meanwhile says unlike in the past, numbers of people to attend election petitions will be regulated as a measure to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines are adhered to and so no crowds will be allowed.

He however says priority will be given to the parties involved like petitioner and respondents, lawyers and witnesses.

For the media, they will be allowed access but will have to work with the court registrars for clearance.
