With just two days to the inauguration of the president-elect, the Judiciary says it is all set for the historic event.
According to the judiciary’s senior communications officer Solomon Muiyita, working with the police, they have already set two police patrols vehicles to escort the Chief Justice to the ceremony to be held at Kololo ceremonial grounds.
According to the law, on the day of swearing in, the Electoral Commission chairman presents a certificate of gazette to the Chief Justice to confirm the particulars of the president-elect before performing the ceremony.
This will be Justice Bart Katureebe’s first time to swear in a president and Muyita confirms that everything that is needed is in place.
President Museveni was declared winner of the February elections with 60.1% of the 9.3m votes cast.
