The head of the Criminal Division of the High Court Justice Wilson Kwesiga risks being de-registered as a member of the Uganda Judicial Officers’ Association.

This is after violating one of the association’s resolutions stated earlier by the president Godfrey Kaweesa not to report to work today as they start their strike over poor working conditions.

While most court rooms today remained deserted or closed across the country, Justice Kwesiga has convened court and sentenced robbery suspects to 20 years each in prison after they pleaded guilty to the offense.

Judges and magistrates resolved to lay down their tools protesting low salaries which they say are way below the scale as compared to their counterparts in the other 2 arms of government.
