More schools in rural areas are adopting rudimentary methods of hand washing in a bid to curb disease spread.
According to the UNICEF Country Representative, Aida Girma, access to hand washing facilities in primary schools stands at 37%, which is 2% higher than in the previous year.
Uganda joined the rest of the world today to mark the Global Handwashing day to promote hand washing and raise awareness of the important role the practice plays in child survival and overall community health.
Girma says the campaign which was initiated in 30 districts, including Nebbi, Iganga, Kasese, Tororo and Koboko, has seen tremendous improvement in sanitation and hygiene practices.
