Islamic State has claimed the attack in the heart of Kampala after three suicide bombers blew themselves up, killed three other people and injuring more than 30 others in the latest in a wave of bombings in Uganda.
The double blasts, one at the Central Police station and near parliament, which forced the suspension of House sessions, sent shock waves through a country known as a fortification against violent Islamist militants in East Africa.
Islamic State claimed responsibility via the group’s Amaq News Agency on an affiliated Telegram account.
In a statement issued last evening, President Museveni, the nicknames of the three attackers indicated all were Ugandan.
The president also vows to crush urban terrorism, saying rural terrorism was defeated in 2007 in the Semiliki National Park.
