International Fund for Agriculture development president has challenged African governments to continue investing in rural populations.

David Kugonza | February 17, 2017

The president of the International Fund for Agriculture development has challenged African governments to continue investing in rural populations.

Dr Kanayo Nwanze made the appeal at the opening of IFADS 40th governing council in Rome Italy.

Nwanze who was speaking to development leaders and IFADS governors saysΒ  only continued rural investment will enable countries to meet their commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals like ending poverty and hunger by 2030.

He says this investment is not a choice but rather a necessity describing rural development as a moral obligation to check challenges like rural urban migration.
