Intellectual Property rights laws to bite

Reporter | May 26, 2014

Government is set to start implementation of intellectual property rights laws as it seeks to raise more revenue.

These involve works that are a result of creativity for which one may apply for a patent, copyright, or trademark.

According to the Uganda Registration Service Bureau boss Bamanya Twebaze, the concept has been abused, making the country lose lots of revenue.

Speaking to World Intellectual Property Organization officials in Kampala, Twebaze said an enforcement unit comprising of police and experts is to be created to help in curbing piracy.
