Just days three days to the Forum for Democratic Change delegates conference, the party is still grappling with controversies from grassroots elections.
In Kampala the elections held in the divisions of Kawempe and Nakawa have been marred by allegations of malpractice leaving some party members including Kampala woman MP Nabilah Nagayi disgruntled.
The FDC electoral head Dan Mugarura says due to the chaos and disagreements in Nakawa division, they have resolved to push the election to tomorrow.
The FDC party will on Friday this week hold a delegates conference to elect new party leaders except the party president whose term expires in 2017.
Unlike on previous occasions, when FDC has held the party’s delegates conferences at Namboolestadioum, it will this time be held at UMA Main Exhibition Hall, Lugogo Kampala.
Over 35 positions including Vice President (4 posts), Party chairperson and deputies (4), Secretary General and deputies (2), Treasurer General and deputies (3), the legal secretary and party mobilisers are up for grabs.
The Secretary General post has attracted the most clout with former leader of opposition Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Kampala Woman MP NabillahNaggayiSempala, current FDC Deputy Secretary General Kassiano WadriEzati all confirming intentions to stand.
