As we draw close to the end of the month-long fibroids awareness campaign, the International Hospital Kampala, IHK has announced a more than 50% reduction in charges for fibroids operation (myomectomy).
The hospital’s marketing and communications manager Peter Mulindwa says one can now pay shs 2.5m for an operation that originally costs about shs 6m.
This offer is only running for this month thanks to a joint fibroid awareness campaign by IHK and Daily Monitor.
Mulindwa says because of this campaign, the number of women seeking for tests and screening for fibroids has increased tremendously.
He says during this month alone, over 60 women visited the hospital looking for fibroids related services as compared to the average four women that used to visit the hospital.
The focus of this campaign is to draw public attention to the devastation that fibroids can cause, addressing its risk factors, who can get fibroids and why, treatment options, financial implications of treating fibroids, how the discovery of fibroids affects relationships and how having fibroids can impact one’s fertility.
