The inspectorate of government needs more financial support to be able to effectively deliver on its mandate.
Appearing before the legal and parliamentary affairs committee IGG Irene Mulyagonja said the inspectorate is having a funding gap of 4.4 Billion shillings in the next financial year.
She says out of the required 35 billion shillings 30bn should be provided in the next financial year.
She however says given the changing form of corruption, the inspectorate needs funds to acquire specialized surveillance equipment to check the vice.
Meanwhile,Members of parliament on the legal and parliament affairs committee have challenged the Inspectorate of government to do more in handling big corruption scandals.
Interfacing with the IGG Justice Irene Mulyagonja, Mps including Alex Byarugaba, Monica Amoding among others expressed disappointment that the inspectorate was only concentrating on small cases.
They want the IGG to begin concentrating on the bigger cases where big sums of tax payers money are mis-spent.
