At least 156, 000 2014 Primary Seven candidates have missed continuing their education in secondary and vocational institutions.
This was reached this morning at the national Senior One selection exercise conducted by the Ministry of Education at Kampala International University organized.
Most schools which have been performing well maintained their cutoff points, attributing it to improved performance in the previous year.
Some schools have raised their cut of points while others are admitted only pupils that passed in division one and two.
Education minister Jessica Alupo has however appealed to school heads to absorb all pupils who passed from division one to four in the ongoing selection.
Alupo says the Uneb Act clearly stipulates that pupils who have scored from 4 points to 32 points are eligible for selection and therefore schools must comply.
Meanwhile in a separate development, Minister Alupo says the ministry and representatives of the Uganda National Teachers Union are set to meet the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda over the teacher’s Sacco Money.
The teachers and the minister are currently at loggerheads over the 25 billion grant from the president which they have refused to receive because it was remitted it through the micro finance support centre.
