Human rights network for journalists has condemned what it calls an attempt by parliament to muzzle the media.
This follows summoning of some media houses journalists and righters before the rules and privileges committee over claims of contempt of parliament.
The committee was today expected to question editors of four different media houses including daily monitor over stories they consider critical of the institution.
Now addressing a press conference in Kampala, the national coordinator of Human rights network for journalists Robert Ssempala called this a deliberate and calculated attempt to stifle democratic enjoyment of constitutional liberties.
He added that this is meant to also ring-fence parliament from public scrutiny through the media and a clear abuse of power.
